Hello beloved peeps. How’s it going? Cool. Stag performed at SXSW last week, at the Next Stage at the convention center. Performing in the corner of a trade show was a little unwieldy at first but I thought the show picked up steam at the end once all the people expecting free suglasses left. Don’t ask me, though, ask Samantha Pitchel from The Huffington Post.
One of Austin’s most accomplished groups, Stag blends witty, weird sketch and video, with an aesthetic that’s half Tim and Eric, half The State, and always awesome. While the Next Stage, nestled in the corner of the SXSWi trade show, is sort of in the middle of the cluster-eff of apps and CMS start-ups hawking their wares, the group’s high energy (and high volume) attracted a sizeable crowd.
I think we’re the Eric half. Anyway, the rest of the week was spent in a sugarstorm of awesomeness and free drinks. Here’s a tipsy interview of our own Ximena Estrada from Portland-based comedian and writer Sean Ongley.
We got some shows coming up in the next two months and as always check the mothership for our other adventures.
SX Comedy on the Next Stage kicks off today, with us! If you have any kind of sx badge and a heart, you need to make your way to the Next stage from 4-5 today, which according to the site is in exhibit hall 3/4. Yeah, I know 3/4. I think that means between 3 and 4 and not some weird room under the stairs situation or a like a sewer grate – like when the Turtles got pizza delivered in the the Turtles movie. Remember? Ask Mac about that movie if you see him because he has TWO embarrassing stories about it.
Last weekend we put The Ghostly Do-Gooders to bed with a really fun show. Thanks to everyone who came out to those performances. Right after the show wrapped up we found out Stag Comedy was included in the comedy line-up for this year’s SXSW. Have you seen the line-up? Holy fuck. Seriously. We are super excited and beyond honored to be a part of it.
Stag will be performing Monday, 3/12 on the Next Stage, inside the Austin Convention Center at 4PM. We’ll be doing a best of set, so it’ll include some old stuff, stuff from our last show, and some stuff we’ll be cooking up just for the show. Add us to your schedule here.
Since the show takes place during the film/interactive part I believe you’ll need one of those badges/wristbands to see us. If you have one of those all-access badges, then not only do you get in, but you also get the first born child from a Stag member of your choosing. Right? Isn’t that how that works?
